CIVIL REGISTERS

The Civil Register was not incorporated in Spain until 1871, when Provisional Law 2/1870 of 17 June, on the Civil Register, came into force. Since the enactment of this law, all births, marriages and deaths were systematically recorded. The book recording births at the Civil Register includes annotations in the margin from consular civil registers with information on the marriage, death, change of nationality, etc. of the persons registered.

The list of Spanish Civil Registers can be consulted through the following link to the Ministry of Justice.
