History:

Gino Rigamonte was an Italian American probably born on July 16, 1912, in Italy. He served with the Garibaldi Battalion of the 12th International Brigade. It is unclear if he was in the US prior to Spain. However, he supposedly returned to the US on October 1, 1938 as a stowaway aboard the “Paris”. There is some contradictory information about the time he returned, it is possible that he might have returned earlier on October 1938. He was sent straight to hospital. There is information that sustain that he might have been sent back to France, where he was imprisoned after leaving Spain. He was admitted to US in 1940 as a stateless refuge.

Rigamonte probably died on May 19, 1987, in San Mateo, California.
