Historian and writer. He was son of the Spanish conqueror Sebastián Garcilaso de la Vega, nobleman from Extremadura, and the Inca princess Isabel Chimpu Ocllo, granddaughter of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui and nephew of the Inca emperor Huayna Cápac. His real name was Gómez Suárez de Figueroa, which he would change later by that of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
Author of "Comentarios Reales de los Incas", published in Lisabon, in 1609, where the history, culture and traditions of the Incas and other villages from the ancient Peru are told. This book was forbidden in America after the uprising of Túpac for the Spanish Crown until 1781, although it continued being printed in the peninsula.
Other important works from the Inca Garcilaso are "La Florida del Inca" (Lisabon, 1605), which is a short story of the Spanish conquer of Florida; and the "Segunda parte de los Comentarios Reales", better known as "Historia General del Perú" (Cordova, 1617), posthumously published, where the author talks about the conquer of Peru and the beginning of the viceroyalty.
