Spanish law professor. He was married to Teodora Mampel y Timmeramnns. He got the chair of Commercial Law at the University of Salamanca in 1887. By virtue of a transfer procedure, he obtained the chair of common and regional law at the University of Valencia in 1891. Because of the exact same reason, he got the chair of commercial law at the University of Barcelona in 1900. He was dismissed from that position in 1917 and he moved to the Universidad Central in Madrid as a numerary professor of Commercial Law in Spain and in the major Nations of Europe and America. The perceptive judgement of the Council of Public Instruction on the 30th of January of 1917 stated that only Benito had a piece of work that “was declared useful for teaching and of merit for his promotion”. During his well known academic career he outstood for his works about the divulgation and education of Spanish and international commercial law. In 1925, when he turned 70 years old, he was dismissed for compulsory retirement as an active professor.
