Preferred form:

Casso Fernández, Francisco de (1853-1927)

Dates of existence/Biographical dates:

Sevilla (España)  1853 - Sevilla (España)  1927-03-18

Spanish Law professor. He was the son of Domingo María de Casso y Escobar, from Seville and who worked in the commerce, and Rita Fernández, from Seville. He was married to Rosario Romero Pascual and they were the parents of Jose Luis (civil engineer) and the professor Ignacio de Casso Romero.

He had a degree on Philosophy and Literature as well as Law (he was specialised on Civil and Canonical Law) by the University of Seville. His academic career was conditioned by his bad health condition and by administrative sanctions that obliged him to be in different university centres: Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Salamanca, Zaragoza and, once again, in Seville, where he retired in 1923. He was also obliged to teach different subjects: Commercial, Civil and Roman Law as well as General History of Spanish Law.

Even though it cannot be stated certainty, it is likely that he died in Seville the 18th of March of 1927 according to the necrology that appeared in the edition of the newspaper ABC in Seville five days after the event.
