Spanish Law professor. He was the son of Castillo y Salido, assistant of public works, and Casilda Alonso del Peral. He got married to Jesusa de Yurrita and they were the parents of: Alberto (professor of Ancient and Medieval Universal History), Enrique (who was an aviation Lieutenant during the Spanish Civil War and the director of the newspaper El Diario from Barcelona), César and Lorenzo.

He was awarded a degree on Law by the University of Valladolid and a doctorate by the Universidad Central in Madrid with his thesis: “La obligación de reservar” [The obligation of booking].

In 1905 he accessed as a numerary professor to the chair of Administrative Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Nevertheless, from 1906 until the day he retired, his academic career was focused on the University of Barcelona and the chair of Spanish Political Law. His academic career was only interrupted when he was designated Civil Governor and when he was ceased as a professor in 1936 by a government decree from the Republic.

Moreover, he directed the newspaper El Porvenir from Valladolid and when he was working as a professor in Barcelona, he collaborated with the newspaper El Diario, which would be directed by his son Enrique in the future.
