History:

Spanish Law professor. He was the son of Fernando Checa Ossorno and María Antonia Sánchez. His father was a Knight of the Order of Calatrava and his paternal grandfather, José Checa and Gijón, was colonel of the army and Knight of Santiago. He got his doctorate on Civil and Canonical Law at the Universidad Central.

He was appointed numerary professor of Commercial Law at the University of Zaragoza in 1887 and since he was transferred in 1889 he took office of the chair of Commercial Law at the University of Seville. Indeed, he would be attached to this institution the rest of his academic career.

He also worked as a lawyer and he was very well known in Seville because of his work.

On the other hand, the figure of his brother Fernando was remarkable too: lawyer, doctor on Civil and Canonical Law and assistant lecturer at the University of Seville
