Yves Allégret was a French film director, scriptwriter, editor and producer.
He usually used the name Yves Champlain as his pseudonym. He was the younger brother of the also film director and film noire representative Marc Allégret. He had a daughter named Catherine Allégret, who was also an actress, with his wife the actress Simone Signoret. He made his debut in 1930 as his brother's assistant, and after that he worked with other directors like Jean Renoir. He started filming his own short films at the same time. He is known for movies such as "Dédée d'Anvers" (1948), "The proud ones" (1953) and "The best part" (1955).
