History:

Mario Amendola was an Italian dramatist, scriptwriter and film director.

He began his career around 1931 as writer in a successful variety magazine with titles such as "Macario and Wanda Osiris". Around 1949, he moved to the show business as director. He directed 37 movies, comedies especially. He has a very close collaborations with Ruggero Macarri and Bruno Corbucci. They together founded a strict association. Corbucci and Amendola gave Nico Giraldi a start (a truthful and inteligent police inspector performed by Tomas Milian).

He died due to diabetes in Rome in 1993 at the age of 83.
