Michael Apted was an English film producer, scriptwriter, actor and film director.

He was born in a middle-class family and studied Law and History in Cambridge University. He is one of the most prolific English film directors of his generation, but he is better known of his work on the "Up" serie of documentaries and the James Bond movie "The World is not enough" (1999). He is president of Directors Guild of America. Some of his most popular movies are: "Gorillas in the mist" (1988), "Enough" (2002) or "The Chronicles of Narnia: The voyage of the Dawn Treader" (2010). He also worked in television, where he filmed chapters for some series like "Rome" (2005), "Ray Donovan" (2013) and "Masters of Sex" (2016).
