Helmuth Ashley is an Austrian film and photography director and scriptwriter.
Around 1934 and 1938 he graduated as photographer in Berlin. During the Second World War, he trained to be aerial photographer and made a course of war correspondent. Once he was formed as camerman, he made several documentaries about the war like "West Luftwaffe". He joined the army in 1942. Since 1950, he worked almost exclusively in Germany. His first project as director was "Das Schwarze Schaf" (1960). Other popular movies were "The old fox" (1977) and "Derrick" (1974). He also did some jobs on television.
