Jan Batory was a Polish film director and scriptwriter.
He graduated in the Direction Department of The National Film School of Lodz in 1951. He started his career as Wanda Jakubowska's assistant in the movie "Zolnierz zwyciestwa" (1953). He won numerous awards like the Concha de Plata, Fipresci Award, the Great Prixe of the Cinema Critic, etc. Some of his most famous movies were "The two who stole the moon" (1962), "Lekarstwo na milosc" (1966) y "Ostatni kurs" (1963).
He died the 1st August 1981 in Warsaw at the age of 59.
