She spent most of the Spanish Civil War in Barcelona. She exiled with her family to France. She was in Montpellier until May 1939, when she went to Mexico on board "Sinaia" ship. They arrived to Veracruz and then went to Mexico City, where her father worked in the "Sanatorio Español".

In 1940, Teresa entered the Luis Vives School and studied Psicology in the National Autonomous University of Mexico, although she never worked as psychologist. She married in 1945 engineer and painter Eduardo Lozano Vistuer, also a son of exiled Spanish people. They had three children (Teresa, Eduardo and Mercedes Lozano Armendares) and focused on her family's care.
