Bargés Barba, José (1907-1997)

Spanish exiled teacher of Normal School who was born in Girona in 1907. He married Carmen Mestres Capdevila. When the Spanish Civil War started, he joined the Republican militia and served in the "Milicias de la Cultura". He went to France after the war and enetered a concentration camp. When he got out of the camp, he moved to Mexico on board "Sinaia" ship.
In 1940, a small group of schoolteachers who were exiled in Mexico, like Luisa, Antonio and José Bargés Barba, decided to found an Elementary School in Córdoba (Veracruz) under the name of Grupo Escolar Cervantes, with the support of the "Comité Técnico de Ayuda a los Republicanos Españoles". He later moved to Champusco (Puebla) and then to Mexico City.
Some years later, he returned to Spain.
