Barrio Duque, Moisés (1896-1975)

Spanish exiled in Mexico. Spanish engineering, deputy and republican politician. He was married and spoke French and English. Barrio was a member of the Socialist Radical Republican Party (PRRS) and Republican Left-Wing. During the Second Republic, he was an active republican leader for Burgos (province). In the 1936 elections, he won a seat within the candidature for Frente Popular. After the Spanish Civil War ended, he went into exile to Mexico aboard the Sinaia along with his wife. There, he was Professor in Engineering at the Autónoma Univeristy of Mexico. Barrio also joined the Aid Board for Spanish Republicans or JARE. He took part in the renovation of the Madrid School in Mexico. Finally, he came back to Spain.
