Once the war came to an end, she crossed the frontier with France, until she went into exile to Mexico aboard the Ipanema, arriving in Veracruz on 7 July 1939. Her siblings were Valeriano, Laura, Francisco, María Dolores, Pedro, Atocha and José del Castillo, being this last one a Republican soldier that was killed by a group of hooded people.
