History:

Exiled Spanish teacher and children's literature writer. Born in Barcelona in 1916. Before the Spanish Civil War, she worked as a midwife. When she arrived in Mexico in April 1940 she was 24 years old and married. During her exile she quit her job and started working as a teacher of the Academia Hispano Mexicana Preschool group, being known as "Miss Mercedes". She wrote children's stories and short stories for her students. These stories were put together in a book named "Cuentos de la Miss". In 1992, she published an adventure story named "Las Fuentes del Orinoco". Her last known residence is Mexico City.
