Juan José Rafael Teodomiro de O'Donojú y O'Ryan (Seville, Spain, July 30, 1762 - Mexico, October 8, 1821). He was a Spanish soldier and administrator. - Interim Minister of War: 1813/04/23 to 30/05/1813; 30/05/14/01/1814 1813; 14/01/1814. - Interim Minister of State: 10/10/1813 to 17/10/1813. He also was Minister of War during the Regency and with the restoration of the constitutional regime in 1820 he was appointed Capitan General of Andalusia. In 1821, he was appointed Captain General of New Spain. He was chosen to occupy the Viceroyalty of New Spain, where he dominated the situation created by the uprising of Agustín de Iturbide (1783-1824), but in Mexico and in other localities. Although he had no powers to do so, he signed with Iturbide the Treaty of Córdoba on August 27, 1821, in which the Plan of Iguala was confirmed and expanded. Thanks to this treaty, the war ended and the independence of Mexico was recognized. He took part in the Provisional Governing Board that wrote the Act of independence on September 28, 1821. He also was a member of the Regency which was formed with 5 members and was leaded by Iturbide.
