After this experience he continued his career as psychiatrist but, when the Second World War was over, he decided to become a film director. He shot several short films and some films but his first success came with “Scandal in Sorrento” (1955). After this, he went to Rome and wrote the plot of “Poor but Beautiful” (1957), which made him more famous. But the film that changed his life forever was “Il sorpasso” (1962), becoming one of the masters of the Italian comedy. Among his most popular films can be found “Poor but Beautiful” (1957), “A Difficult Life” (1961), “Il sorpasso” (1962) and “Scent of a Woman” (1974).
