Maurice Clavel was a French writer, journalist, philosopher and film director. Clavel was a brilliant student; he got involved in politics and admired Charles de Gaulle, founder of the political party Rassemblement du peuple français (RPF). He began his career as a writer by founding a newspaper, L'Essor, and writing theatre plays. In 1953, he directed two films and wrote several scripts for television series and adaptations for films. Among his most outstanding titles can be found: "Don Juan" (1956), "A Mistress for the Summer" (1960) and "The Married Couple of the Year Two" (1971).
He passed away with 58 years old due to a heart failure in Asquins.
