History:

Spanish cardinal. He was born in Galicia. Son of Antonio de Arriba and Pilar de Castro. He studied in the seminar of Madrid, the Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana of Roma and the Universidad Pontificia de Toledo. In 1912, he became priest. Later on, he was teacher in Madrid until 1921, when he became part of the priests in charge of the Almudena Cathedral. The main positions he held after that were: bishop of Mondoñedo (1935-1944), bishop of Oviedo (1944-1949) and archbishop in the cathedral of Tarragona (1949-1970). He died in Barcelona at the age of 86.
