History:

Spanish public notary and lawyer. Son of Nicolas Azaña, who was also a public notary, and Escolástica Hernández. He inherited his father Clerk's office in Alcalá de Henares, where he also was working as the Mayor's secretary. He fought for the conservation of the Universidad de Alcalá. Azaña married Eusebia Concepción Rojas and they had together six children: Leonardo, Quintín, Gregorio, Nicolás, Alejandra and Carlos Azaña Rojas. He also was the great-grandfather of Manuel Azaña, the president of the II Spanish Republic. He had a relevant role in Alcalá when agreeing to the Constitution of Cadiz of 1820.
