History:

Spanish lawyer, journalist, and politician. Joaquín Poza Juncal was a member of one of the Galician families that were most committed to the Second Republic. He was the son of Joaquin Poza Cobas, republican leader of Pontevedra, and of Pilar Juncal, as well as brother of Hernán and Laureano Poza Juncal. He was the nephew of the doctor Celestino Poza Cobas. He succeeded his father as Director of La Libertad. Moreover, he was deputy of Acción Republicana (Republican Action) for Pontevedra. Like his brother Laureano, he was a Mason. Joaquín Poza Juncal was Civil Governor in Orense. He maintained a relationship with his sister‑in‑law Victoria Díaz Riva, which was truncated by the untimely death of the politician in 1934.
