History:

US screenwriter and film director. Well-known for being the only female film director during Hollywood's Golden Age. She made her debut as a director with "Fashions for Women" (1927), and a year later she directed "Manhattan Cocktail" (1928). In 1936, she directed one of her most popular films, "Craig's Wife". In 1943, after numerous successes, she left Hollywood due to health diseases, and focused on directing entertainment films for women in the Army.
