History:

Spanish scriptwriter, producer, and film director. He directed his first feature film "Los oficios de Rafael Arcos" in 1914. During the First World War he traveled to the United States, where he founded the Elias Press Inc. At the end of the silent cinema era he returned to Spain, where he worked in the films "El fabricante de suicidios" (1928), "Chicas de cabaret" (1929) and "El misterio de la Puerta del Sol" (1929). Due to the little success of his films he was forced to travel to Paris and he work for French producers. Back to Spain, he began working for the Orphea studios, producing films such as "Pax" (1932) and "María de la O" (1936). During the war he was in charge of cinematography at the Generalitat, shooting films such as "Bohemios" (1937). After the war he went into exile in Mexico, where he made eight feature films. After returning to Spain he filmed his last film "Marta" (1954).
