Notes and range:

Jewish religious holiday held annually on the 14th day of the Jewish month of Adar (or the 15th day of Adar in walled cities) in remembrance of the miracle narrated on the Scroll of Esther, in which the Jewish people survived the attempt to be wiped out by the Persian king Asuero thanks to the intervention of a young Jewish woman called Ester. During this celebration, Jewish people read the Meguilat Ester or the "Scroll of Esther", and finish it with a large banquet in which they usually drink wine and recite canticles.
