Spanish jurist, public notary, professor, and archivist. He studied Law at the Universidad de Valencia - a city where his father was a public notary and dean of the Colegio de Notarios - obtaining the extraordinary prize in 1925.
He obtained the position of public notary in Cartagena through public examination and later, by the same system, he obtained it in Madrid at the age of 33, being then the youngest public notary to reach this position (1934).
He was archivist of Protocolos de Madrid, permanent board member of the Comisión General de Codificación and board member of the Pleno del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas.
He was dean of the Ilustre Colegio Notarial in Madrid and president of the Colegios Notariales de España between 1965 and 1970.
He was a full member of the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación, a full member of the Instituto Español de Derecho Procesal and deputy director of the Instituto Nacional de Estudios Jurídicos.
He was professor of the professorship of Theory and System of Public Instruments in the doctorate courses of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and lifetime director, since its foundation in 1953, of the "Revista de Derecho Notarial" of Madrid and regularly collaborated with other Spanish and Latin American legal journals.
Together with the public notary of Buenos Aires, José Adrián Negri, he created and consolidated the Unión Internacional del Notariado Latino, of which he was president in 1956 and honorary president since 1967. He received an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Notarial Argentina.
His legal work focused on civil law and notarial law where he made great contributions, as well as in Civil Procedural Law, Commercial Law or History of Law. He published a dozen legal works, the first in 1934 and today they are still references for the study of law.
