History:

Spanish General Lieutenant and Knight of Laureate Cross of Saint Ferdinand. Navy guard in Ferrol, brigadier in 1806, years later he was given the position of infantry's Second Lieutenant, obtaining later on the position of Captain, which allowed him to then be transferred to the Regimiento de la Unión.

In June 1810, he was promoted to second assistant of Estado Mayor (military staff) and to first assistant on December 1811.

Being a member of the expeditionary Army that went to America, he was arrested as head of a liberal conspiracy quelled by the General Enrique O'Donell; however, the captivity was short as the uprising of Riego succeeded, and he was freed and promoted to Field Marshal. On 25 June 1821, he was given the Laureate Cross of Saint Ferdinand by Royal Decree, he was appointed Vice President of the Cortes and later on interim inspector of the National Militia.

In 1826, he was condemned in rebellion to death by garrotte vil, but was allowed to return to Spain in 1834, when he was amnestied. He resigned in October 1838 to the positions of captain general and inspector, a resignation that would not be admitted by the Queen.

He died in Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña) on 26 March 1841.

He was married to Rafaela de Rada y Gardín. Among other awards, he possessed the Cross of Official of Légion d'Honneur (1838).
