He was an English editor and director nominated for an Oscar for best edition for the feature film Odd Man Out (1947). He began his career editing films in 1939 with the film I Met a Murderer. Until 1976 he worked on almost sixty films including Nothing But the Best (1964), Charlie Bubbles (1967), Spring and Port Wine (1970), and Mistress Pamela (1974). He died at the age of 73 in 1984.
