He was a German film director. His father was the cinematographer Carl Hoffmann. Hoffmann directed 48 films between 1938 and 1971. His debut as a director came in 1939 with the film titled Paradies der Junggesellen. Hoffman was nominated on the 1st Moscow International Film Festival with his film Wir Wunderkinder (1958) and also was nominated on the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival in which he won the Silver Prize with his film Wir Wunderkinder (1958).
