Spanish mayor librarian of the Biblioteca Real and of the Biblioteca Nacional de España. Deputy to Courts and Senator.
Born in A Pobra do Caramiñal (A Coruña) in 1775. Son of Pedro Antonio González de Mendoza Patiño, and of María Tomasa Patiño Junco de Relova. He obtained his doctorate in Theology and Philosophy in Compostela's University, being professor of the aforementioned between 1802 and 1812. He was mayor librarian of the University between 1812 and 1834, until he was named mayor librarian of the Biblioteca Real, position he occupied until being dismissed on 7 October 1840. During these years, the Biblioteca disengaged from the Casa Real, depending now on the Ministerio de Gobernación, and being named from November 1836, Biblioteca Nacional. He was also chosen deputy to Courts during the Trienio Liberal, and subsequently senator for Pontevedra's province between 1838 and 1841. After retiring in 1843, the following year, he was decorated with the Orden of Carlos III. He passed away in the Spanish capital in 1848.
