History:

The Deputy Accounts Payable of the Land Army was created by order of the Sub-Secretariat of Land Army of the Ministry of National Defense, dated 28 July 1937. It aimed at achieving consensus in the payment of assets to the war disabled and in the payment of pensions to the beneficiaries of the deceased and the persons missing in action. The payment of pensions to the defeated in the defense of the Republic was ordered on 11 August 1936, and it underwent different administrative changes up until the creation of the PSET. On the other hand, the payment to widows and orphans of the originators recruited prior to 31 December 1936 was carried out by several Recruitment, Instruction and Mobilization Centers, which took over the powers of the dissolved Military Headquarters of Militias (Decree of 14-07-1937; Decree of the Ministry of National Defense Nº 170). The payment resulting from originators recruited after 1 January 1937 was borne by several administrative units of the Land Army. (Decree of 12-30-1936; Decree of the Ministry of War nº 277). In this way, the Ministry of National Defense unified in the very same entity the PSET, the payment of assets to the war disabled and the death or disappearance pensions during the campaign. Alongside the Accounts Payable were established several Deputy Accounts Payables, which would be located in all the existing CRIMs. The PSET was attached both organizationally and administratively to the General Accounts Payable of Campaign. The duties of the Deputy Accounts Payable and its Sub-Accounts Payable were to claim and satisfy assets or provisional pensions to the war disabled and to beneficiaries of the deceased or disappeared, regardless of their status in the Land Army starting on 17 July 1937. On 14 August, all Army units were ordered to send the nominal ratio of all persons deceased, missing in combat or disabled, as well as all the outstanding payments. Moreover, the headquarters of the deputy accounts payables were established in Albacete, Alicante, Castellón de la Plana, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Jaén, Madrid, Murcia and Valencia. It was expected to render operative headquarters in Barcelona, Almería, Barbastro, Caspe and Ocaña. (Order 14-08-1937; Decree of the Ministry of National Defense Nº 196).
