History:

Umbral (The Threshold) was a magazine linked to anarchism, published in Spain in the time span between 1937 and 1939, during the Civil War. It was administered by the journalist Carlos Gamón Fernández and directed by Antonio Fernández Escobes. Issued on a weekly basis, the magazine was originally published in Valencia. At a later stage, since issuance Nº 21, it was published by the CNT in the area of Barcelona that was under republican control. The Hungarian photographer Kati Horna, the anarchist Lucía Sánchez Saornil, Pepe García, Francisco Carrasco de la Rubia and the draftsman Helios Gómez engaged in the creation of the magazine.
