Recognized writer and Spanish professor. He was born in Zamora and passed away in Oviedo. He was called Leopoldo Enrique. Son of Genaro García-Alas (honorary secretary of S.M. and governor of the Province of Zamora) and Leocadia Ureña. He was married with Onofre García-Argüelles y García-Bernardo. He had three children, of which one was: Leopoldo García-Alas y García Argüelles (Professor of Civil Law and Principal at the University of Oviedo).
He began his academic education studying high school at the Secondary School of Oviedo. He obtained the Law degree at the University of Oviedo. He studied on the field of Philosophy and Arts at the Central University of Madrid and completed the Doctorate in Law.
His academic career started by being named Professor of "Elementos de Economía Política y Estadística" (Elements of Political Economy and Statistics) by the University of Zaragoza. He was transferred to the University of Oviedo, where he took charge of the chair of "Prolegómenos, Historia y Elementos de Derecho Romano" (Prefaces, History and Elements of Roman Law); and "Elementos de Derecho Natural" (Elements of Natural Law).
