He was a Spanish physician, mathematic and politician. He was born in 1885 in Borja (Zaragoza) and died exiled in Mexico. He graduated in Exact Sciences at the University of Zaragoza and held a PhD in the Central University of Madrid. In 1906, he obtained a position at the Observatory of Madrid, where he worked until 1920. Then, he obtained the chair of cosmography and physics of the globe at the Central University. His first activity as an intellectual was linked to the "Ateneo de Madrid", of which he was the first secretary and the president of the section of "Exacts" several times. He was chosen member of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences. He was director-general of the Spanish Geographical, Catastral and Statistics Institute during the first republican biennium. He was politically active at Manuel Azaña's Group of Republican Action. He was a member of its Committee and National Council. He was chosen deputy at the Republican Action in the elections to Constituent Cortes in Zaragoza (1931). In the elections of 1936, he was elected deputy of the Republican Left. He went into exile in the United States and Puerto Rico when the Civil War ended. In 1944, he exiled in Mexico, where he died in 1962.
