Spanish writer and poet. Member of the Generation of '27. Director of the Alcázar of Seville between 1934 and 1969. Son of the liberal lawyer and politician Rafael Romero Gutiérrez, who reached the position of President of the Council of Seville, and of Nieves Murube Pérez. He passed the official exam to the City Council of Seville for the Administrative Municipal Corp in 1925, and in 1934, he was appointed Director of the Royal Alcazars of Seville, a position he occupied until his unexpected death in 1969. He got married to Soledad Murube Cardona in 1936. After the Civil War, he was appointed Commissioner of the 6th Zone of the SDPAN (Defence Service of the National Artistic Patrimony), in the area of Western Andalusia, Canary Islands and Morocco, with Seville as capital.

He dedicated entirely his last years to literature and to the embellishment of the gardens of the Alcázar of Seville. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungría. He was awarded with the City of Seville Prize in 1964. In 2000, the newspaper ABC of Seville instituted the prize that has his name with the purpose of recognizing the best journalist works published in Spain for a year.

Context:
