History:

Spanish law professor. He was the son of Manuel Antón Ferrández (Anthropology professor in the Faculty of Science at the Universidad Central in Madrid and deputy on several occasions), and María del Patrocinio Oneca y Ramilo.

He started his academic training studying Philosophy, Literature and Law at the Universidad Central in Madrid. After finishing his studies of Law, he received a scholarship from the Council for Extension of Studies and he was awarded a doctorate in 1921.

His academic career outstands for being numerary professor at the Faculty of Law in Salamanca, professor of Criminal Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Chair of Criminal Law at the Univesidad de Madrid and dean at the Faculty of Law in Salamanca.

After the Spanish Civil War, he was sanctioned and he was incarcerated in the prison of Segovia for twenty four months, within which he was in forced labour for six months.

He also spent sixteen of those twenty-four months in mitigated imprisonment at the house of his friend the medicine professor Agustín del Cañizo. He retired in 1967 when he was 70 years old.

He held other positions:

Founder of the magazine Philosophy and Literature.

Chair at the Legal Advisor Commission from the Ministry of Justice.

Collaborator in the creation of the Yearbook of Criminal Law, which was edited by the Spanish National Institute of Legal Studies at the CSIC.

Member of the Scientific Criminal Council from the European Council.

President of the Spanish National Section.

Member of the Management Council of the Association Internationale de Droit Pénal.

Vice president of the Socièté Internationale de Defense Sociale.
