He was a Spanish profesor, son of Felipe Torres Campo and Francisca Aguilar-Amat Páramo. He married Elisa Manso de Zúñiga Bouligny and then Filomena Manso de Zuñiga Bouligny whom he had a daughter, María de las Mercedes. He studied at Instituto de San Isido de Madrid and Instituto de Almería and graduated in Philosophy and Humanities from Universidad de Granada in 1864, and in Civil and Canonical Law in 1865. He obtained his doctorate in 1867 from Universidad Central de Madrid.

He taught Composition of Public Instruments and Legal Actions at the Notarial School of Madrid in 1872 and at Universidad de Madrid in 1883. He was also secretary of the Academia del Profesorado of the Universidad de Madrid during the academic year 1872-1873. He also taught Legal Proceedings and Forensic Practice in 1893. In 1919, he retired.

During his life he also was a member of the Literature and Sciences Academy of Granada in 1863. Between 1867 and 1868 he was an assistant at Spain’s Embassy in Rome and member of the Real Academia de Historia. In 1858, he also was admitted as a member of the now extinct Real Academia de Arqueología y Geografía. He was also a member of the Bar Association of Madrid since 1869. In 1872, he was part of the commission of teachers that elaborated the journal of the Universidad de Madrid. He was also spokesperson of the General Commission for Codification.
