History:

Spanish professor at the Universities of Santiago, Oviedo, Valladolid and Barcelona. Born in Salamanca, his parents were Don José Francisco de Arriaga and Doña Josefa Claudia Duque. Arriaga started his academic career taking High School studies in Philosophy and Law. Later on, he graduated in Administrative Law from the University of Valladolid. He also pursued a PhD from the Central University of Madrid. Arriaga held a Chair at the University of Santiago, and then moved to the University of Valladolid. In 1850, he requested a transfer to a Chair in Political Economics, Political Law and Administration at the University of Oviedo. In 1864, he was appointed professor in Spanish Public Financial Institutions by the University of Barcelona, which he already performed at the University of Valladolid. Arriaga worked as well as lawyer and deputy at the Courts for Salamanca.
