Spanish jurist and professor. He was the son of Ignacio Brusi Solís and Micaela Crespo Suárez. He was married to Matilde de Riva Garzón and they were the parents of Jose María, Adela, Federico, Matilde and Antonio Brusi de la Riva.
He started his academic training in 1865 with the baccalaureate of Arts in the Senior High School of Ávila. He then studied in the section of Civil and Canonical Law on the Faculty of Law at the University of Salamanca. He obtained the degree and the doctorate in that university.
His professional experience started in 1871 as a provisional substitute in several chairs of the Faculty of Law at the University of Salamanca. He was designated supernumerary professor of General History of Spanish Law by the University of Zaragoza. In addition, he asked to be transferred to the University of Salamanca, where he took office of the chair of Civil Law and the General History of Law.
