Spanish Law professor. He was the son of Joaquín María de Castro y Patiño (Lord of the House of Ouces) and María Josefa de Lamas de la Torre. He was the brother of the lawyer Joaquín María and the marine guard soldier Bernardo.

He started his academic training studying the baccalaureate on Philosophy and Laws at the University of Santiago de Compostela. In addition, he was awarded a degree on laws and a doctorate at the same university. He also studied at the Fonseca School.

His academic career was focused on the University of Santiago and he outstood for being a professor of Jurisprudence. He was also appointed professor of Forensic Oratory.

He carried out other activities:
