Spanish professor. He was born in Seville and he died in Madrid. He was the son of José de Castro y de Castro, lawyer and professor of Philosophy and Literature, and Dolores Bravo Albares. He got married to María-Elena de Urries Herrero.
He started his academic training in 1916 when he studied Law at the University of Seville and he was awarded both a degree on Law and on Philosophy and Literature. He studied the doctorate on Law and History at the Universidad Central in Madrid. He received a scholarship from the Council for Extension of Studies and he used to study at the University of Heidelberg as well as the town of Grenoble (France).
He started his academic career being an assistant professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Salamanca. In 1932 he got the chair of International Private Law from the University of Madrid and one year later he was transferred to the same chair at the University of Seville. He ceased and moved to the University of Madrid.
He was dismissed in 1939 and he was rehabilitated without sanction.
