History:

Spanish politician and head of department. Ripollés did secondary studies in Arts at the Secondary Education Institute of Zaragoza in 1851, and secondary studies in Law at the Faculty of Law in Zaragoza in 1863. He graduated in Law from the University of Zaragoza in 1865, obtaining a PhD from the Central University in 1868.

Head of Department in Civil Law and Spanish Codes at the University of Oviedo in 1874. Head of Department in History and Elements of Spanish Civil, Common and Regional Law at the University of Salamanca in 1875. In 1879, he was appointed head of department in History and Elements of Roman Law at the University of Zaragoza. Head of department in Administrative and Political Law, and in Notions of the Litigious at the University of Zaragoza in 1884. In 1900, after his subject was divided, he passed to the chair in Administrative Law. He was appointed rector of that university in 1900.

Ripollés Baranda held some other posts: Member of the College of Lawyers of Zaragoza from 1866. Academician at the Academy of Legislation and Jurisprudence of Madrid. Deputy at Courts for the district of Alcañiz, in the 1891 general elections. In 1891, he joined the Conservative Party. Civil Governor of Guadalajara and Cuenca in 1895. Governor of Huesca between 1899 and 1900. Member of the Commission of Jurist in charge of drafting the apex to the Civil Law Code of Aragon.
