Montero Gutiérrez, Eloy (1887-1972)

He was a Spanish priest and professor of Law. Son of Emiliano María Montero Calvo and Bonifacia Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, he completed the baccalaureate in Jurisprudence at the Instituto de Salamanca and graduated in Law at the Universidad de Salamanca on the 6th of October, 1913, obtaining his doctorate in 1914. He was granted with a scholarship to continue his studies in Morocco, Italy, France and Belgium.
Professor of Institutions of Canon Law of the Universidad de Sevilla in 1912. He moved to the Universidad Central de Madrid to the same chair in 1928. The Ministery of Public Instruction and Fine Arts dismissed him and he was definitely separated from service. He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de Madrid in 1938, retiring in 1957. He was appointed honorary Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de Madrid in 1964.
Other positions he held were:
-Canon of the cathedral of Ciudad Rodrigo in 1917.
-Lawyer of the Archbishopric of Seville in 1924.
-Lawyer of the Special Court created in 1939 at the High Court, intended to comply the derogatory Law of the Divorce, on the 2nd of March, 1932.
-Advisor of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).
