Miaja de la Muela, Adolfo (1908-1981)

He was a Spanish professor of Law who was born in Valladolid. Son of Francisco Miaja Eguren and María de la Muela Villar, he got married with María Antonia Orbaneja Aragón.
He graduated in Law at the Universidad de Valladolid in 1927. He graduated in Philosophy and Humanities in 1928 and obtained the doctorate in Law in 1928. He was granted with a scholarship from the Junta de Ampliación de Estudios (JAE) in 1931, to continue his studies in France and Holland.
He was professor of Public and Private International Law of the Universidad de La Laguna in 1934. He moved to the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela to the same chair in July, 1934. He was professor of Public and Private International Law of the Universidad de Valencia in 1953 and was appointed vice dean of the Faculty of Law of Valencia in 1964. Dean of the Faculty of Law of the said university in 1967, he retired in 1978.
He was condemned to twelve years of prison by the National Defense Board in 1936. Finally, in 1952, his expedient was revised and he was reinstated to active service.
Other positions he held were:
Lawyer of the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados of Valladolid since 1948. Founder of the Instituto Hispano Luso Americano de Derecho Internacional in 1951. Member of the Institut de Droit International in 1963.
