Professor of Spanish Law. He was the son of Francisco Alcalde and Paula Prieto. He started his academic training with the Baccalaureate in Philosophy at the Literary University of Valladolid. Then, he studied Philosophy and History at the Faculty of Philosophy in the Literary University of Madrid. In 1855, he was awarded the degree of Law at the Faculty of Jurisprudence in the University of Valladolid and one year later he was awarded the doctorate in Law by the Universidad Central de Madrid. In 1858, he was awarded in Administrative Law by the Universidad Central de Madrid and his thesis was: “Influence of Christianity in Law and, in particular, in the European public”.
From his academic career it is important to highlight his Chair in Spanish Civil Law, Spanish Law and Spanish Regional Law at the University of Zaragoza.
Previously, he had had other chairs, such as in Literature, Philosophy and Geography, and History at the universities of Valladolid and Madrid. He was also a professor in Psychology, Logic, and Moral Philosophy at the high schools of Vergara and Ávila.
He held the following positions:
Legal profession and teaching.
Founder of the newspaper Crónica Mercantil.
Advisor at the First Instance Court of Vergara.
