History:

Spanish professor. He was also an economist, physicist and writer of the Generation of ’27.

He began his academic education as a Graduated in Sciences (Physics Field) by the University of Zaragoza and Doctor in Law by the Central University of Madrid and Doctor in Political and Economic Sciences by the University of Madrid. It was at the capital where he met Ortega y Gasset, who would be his great friend.

After the Spanish Civil War, he was tried by the Court of Political Responsibilities of Oviedo, resulting pardoned in 1941.

Of his academic career stands out that, in 1942, he was awarded the chair of Political Economy and Public Treasury by the Faculty of Law of the University of Oviedo and the chair of Economic Theory of the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences of the University of Madrid. In this one, he was even named Dean of the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences.

He was also member of number of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences of Oviedo.

He combined his long career as economist with his literary activity, from essays to poems, including novels and theatre plays.
