Hollander, Herman was born on the 14th of May 1914, in Lemberg, Poland. He was Polish American. He attended to the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, for 1 year. He worked as City Water Meter Inspector, Electrician and Taxi driver. He joined the Young Communist League in 1931. He sailed from the United States on the 14th of May 1937 aboard the "Berengaria" and arrived in Spain on the 15th of May 1937. He served with the Washington Battalion and in the Lincoln-Washington Battalion of the 15th International Brigade at Brunete and Belchite as Private. He served 14 months in Spain and returned to the United States on the 24th of June 1938 aboard the "Washington". He went to the Second World War in the United States Army in the Signal Corps, in the stateside service at Camp Crowder as Private First Class from 1944 until 1946. He died on the 7th of August 2001.

Zarpó desde Estados Unidos el 14 de mayo de 1937 a bordo del "Berengaria" y llegó a España el 15 de mayo de 1937. Sirvió con el Batallón Washington y con el Batallón Lincoln-Washington de la 15 Brigada Internacional en Brunete y Belchite como soldado raso. Estuvo 14 meses en España y volvió a Estados Unidos el 24 de junio de 1938 a bordo del "Washington". También luchó en la Segunda Guerra Mundial en las Fuerzas Armadas de Estados Unidos en el Cuerpo de Transmisiones, en el servicio de Estados Unidos en Camp Crowder como soldado raso desde 1944 hasta 1946. Murió el 7 de agosto de 2001.
