Albert S. Rogell was an American film director, producer and scriptwriter that made more than 100 movies between 1921 and 1958.
He was brother of film producer Sid Rogell. He moved to Spokane, Washingtion, when he was still a kid. At the age of 15, he worked for Washington Motion Picture Company. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, where worked with American film director George Loane Tucker and, after his death, Rogell was hired by producer Sol Lesser in order to direct short films.
He was film director since 1923 and especialized in action movies and Westerns. He paid special attention to details, something that made his productions to be quite outstanding. He directed a great number of movies along his career, including titles like "The dangerous coward" (1924), "The fighting sap" (1924), "Senor Daredevil" (1926), "The red raiders" (1927), "The devil's saddle" (1927) and "The overland stage" (1927). In the thirties, he directed movies such as "Aloha" (1931), "The tip-off" (1931), "Suicide fleet" (1931) and "The rider of death valley" (1932). During the second half of his career, he directed movies like "Start cheering" (1938), "Argentine nights" (1940) and "Li'l Abner" (1940). He also appeared in "The black cat" (1941), "In Old Oklahoma" (1943) and "Heaven only knows" (1947). During the fifties, he left cinema and moved to television to direct series like "Broken arrow" (1956-1960).
