Arrumbador, sindicalista y político español. Su padre era un trabajador de imprenta, activo republicano y conserje en la Colonia Escolar Obrera Jerezana, una casa de veraneo para hijos de trabajadores de Jerez de la Frontera; su madre era hija de unos cocineros de Jerez. Comenzó a trabajar a los 16 años como arrumbador en la empresa Terry, del Puerto de Santa María. Activista sindical desde finales de los años cincuenta, fue uno de los fundadores de la Unión Sindical Obrera (USO). Desde 1963 participó en el sindicato vertical de la vid como vocal provincial primero y nacional después, de acuerdo a la estrategia adoptada por el movimiento obrero en la clandestinidad. Fue perseguido y encarcelado en hasta nueve ocasiones y procesado en dos ante el Tribunal de Orden Público (TOP), una de ellas por participar en la manifestación del 1º de mayo de 1965, siendo entonces acusado de asociación ilícita y destituido de todos sus cargos en el sindicato vertical. En 1968 es acusado de propaganda ilegal. Miembro de la Liga para la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos. En 1977 encabezó la candidatura al Congreso por Cádiz de la coalición Unión Socialista por el Partido Socialista Popular (PSP) de Tierno Galván, entrando en el Grupo Parlamentario Socialista del Congreso. En 1978 el PSP se integra dentro del PSOE, y Esteban se implica fuertemente en la Comisión de Unidad PSOE-PSP en Andalucía y en el proceso de unificación de las Centrales Sindicales UGT-USO. Repetiría como diputado por Cádiz entre 1979 y 1982, con la I legislatura. Fue concejal del Ayuntamiento del Puerto de Santa María desde 1979, cuando fue candidato a la alcaldía por el PSOE. Senador por Cádiz en la II legislatura, entre 1982 y 1986, es elegido por la cámara en 1985 para acudir al Parlamento Europeo a la espera de que el 10 de junio de 1987 se celebrasen las primeras elecciones a eurodiputado (simultáneas a las municipales y autonómicas). Revalidó entonces su escaño en Estrasburgo, desempeñando sus funciones dentro del Grupo Socialista del Parlamento Europeo hasta 1989, cuando abandona la política activa.
Aficionado al deporte, ciclista y nadador, falleció en su localidad natal en junio de 1989.
Spanish brandy worker, syndicalist and politician. Caamaños' father was a printing worker, republican activist and a custodian at the Workers' Housing State of Jerez, where workers' children lived during the summer in Jerez de la Frontera. His mother was a cook's daughter from Jerez. Caamaños started to work when he was 16-years-old at the brandy enterprise Terry, in Puerto de Santa María. He was a syndicalist activist from the end of the 50's, being one of the founders of Workers Syndicalist Union. From 1963, he took part in the vine vertical union as a provincial spokesperson firstly, and then in a national level, according to the secret strategy adopted by the labour movement. He was persecuted and imprisoned nine times and accused twice before the Court of Public Order, one of them due to his involvement in the 1st May 1965 demonstration, being charged for illegal association and propaganda, and dismissed from all his posts at the vertical union. In 1968, he was charged because of illegal propaganda again. Caamaños was a member of the Society for the Defence of Human Rights. In 1977, Caamaños was on the top of the list to be a deputy for Cadiz of the coalition Socialist Union for the Popular Socialist Party or PSP, founded by Tierno Galván, joining the Socialist Parliamentarian Group at the Congress. In 1978, PSP joined PSOE, being Camaños in charge of the Commission of Unity PSOE-PSP in Andalusia, and the process of unification of the Syndicalist Head Offices UGT-USO. He repeated as a deputy for Cadiz between 1979 and 1982 in the I Legislature. Caamaños was also a councillor at the Council of Puerto de Santa María from 1979, when he was a candidate to be the Mayor coming from PSOE. In the II Legislature, between 1982 and 1986, he was a senator for Cadiz, and in 1985, he was elected by the Chamber to attend to the European Parliament looking forward the first elections to be a European MP, on June 1987. Caamaños held his seat in Strasbourg, in charge of some duties within the Socialist Group at the European Parliament until 1989, when he decided to leave politics actively. Caamaño was very keen on sports, especially on cycling and swimming. Finally, he died in his home town on June 1989.
